Being a singing teacher is such a rewarding and fulfilling job. Watching students grow and develop their own unique voices is an amazing experience, and I feel so lucky to be part of their musical journey. However, there’s something equally special about taking time to perform myself. Dee has been coming to singing lessons for almost a year now, initially with the goal of learning more about her voice, but also to create a space for herself to unwind and engage in something she’s passionate about. Over the months, she’s grown in confidence and ability, and this particular song ‘Edge of Seventeen’ has been a significant part of that journey. We spent several weeks carefully working on different elements, including phrasing, microphone technique, breath control, and voice placement. Dee put in the effort to refine each aspect, and when the moment felt right, we decided to capture it in a recording. The result? An absolutely incredible performance that truly showcases how far she has come.
